01
Every shift or routine operator round
Record observations so gradual change becomes visible. Investigate a new leak, unusual sound or unstable pressure promptly rather than allowing it to become the new normal.
- Check chemical level and tank condition
- Inspect for process or hydraulic leaks
- Record suction and discharge pressure
- Check motor current, noise and vibration
- Confirm stroke or speed indication
- Verify alarms and local panel status
02
Weekly or monthly checks
Frequency depends on service severity. Compare actual delivery with the required dose and inspect system components that influence pump performance.
- Calibrate delivered flow
- Inspect and clean strainers where fitted
- Check check-valve performance
- Inspect packing leakage where applicable
- Check lubricant level and appearance
- Inspect pulsation dampener and pressure accessories
03
Planned shutdown tasks
Before work, isolate energy and chemical sources, depressurise, drain and decontaminate using the approved procedure. Replace parts based on condition and manufacturer intervals, then record serial numbers and fitted materials.
- Inspect diaphragm or packing condition
- Inspect valve balls, seats and guides
- Check coupling and alignment
- Inspect bearings and drive mechanism as specified
- Test relief and protective devices
- Replace gaskets and elastomers with approved parts
04
After maintenance
Reassemble to the approved procedure, confirm guards and containment, prime safely and commission at low load where appropriate. Calibrate flow under representative pressure, check for leakage and restore alarms and interlocks before handing the pump back to operations.
- Record work and parts used
- Confirm correct valve line-up
- Verify rotation where applicable
- Calibrate capacity
- Check leak-free operation
- Update the next due date
Frequently asked questions
How often should a dosing pump be calibrated?
Base the interval on process criticality, chemical severity, historical drift and quality requirements. Critical dosing loops may require more frequent verification.
Can generic spare parts be used?
Use manufacturer-approved or technically verified parts with the correct material, dimensions and pressure rating. Unverified substitutions can change performance and containment.
